About me:
I started practicing Hatha-Yoga postures as a young child, which primed me for my later profession as a personal fitness trainer and health consultant. At the age of six, I started learning to play the piano, and my keen interest in music enabled me to participate in piano and voice competitions and also to teach piano in my early teens.

Over a period of twenty-three years, I operated a health business offering training and educational programs especially in remote communities in Canada. I conducted numerous workshops specializing in stress management and relaxation, positive lifestyle, and motivation.

In the last three years prior to retiring from my health business, I particularly focused on teaching and promoting Hatha-Yoga in the Canadian education system. At that time I also developed a strong interest in the spiritual side of Yoga, which prompted me to go on Yoga retreats and simplify my life.

Since 2003, I has been involved in getting Traditional Yoga Studies' distance-learning programs off the ground. I now serves as director of Traditional Yoga Studies.

I am the coauthor of Green Yoga and Green Dharma with my husband, Georg Feuerstein, Ph.D..

With the blessings of my teacher, I create Saddharma-Yoga in late 2008.

Saddharma-Yoga is a liberating physical and psychospiritual discipline (YOGA) anchored in the authentic (SAD, pronounced sud) teaching (DHARMA) of the Buddha.

It is concerned with the spiritual liberation not merely of oneself but of all beings. It proceeds by means of the cultivation of a deep inner letting-go, compassionate action motivated by the impulse to alleviate and ultimately remove the suffering of all sentient beings, and the recognition that all phenomena, including oneself, are completely interdependent and therefore “empty” of an independent essence.

The spiritual practice of Sad-Dharma-Yoga involves stress release through yogic postures and other similar techniques, as well as deep conscious relaxation (mainly in the form of Yoga-Nidra or “Yoga Sleep”). By de-stressing, the body-mind becomes more capable of undergoing the profound inner psychospiritual transformation called for on the path of wisdom and compassion.

On the physical level, Saddharma-Yoga favors a simple, flexible, and gentle approach. Its ethical principles are introduced gradually in a supportive, nondogmatic, and nonthreatening way.

I created Saddharma-Yoga in 2008 to bridge the gap between physical yogic discipline, such as Hatha-Yoga, and the profound tradition of mind training developed in Buddhism.

~~~Change~~~
"We cannot change people. We can only provide the conditions facilitating self-generated change. Those conditions are compassion and a positive regard for the other person, as well as the demonstration that we ourselves are willing to change and grow. Beyond this, we may have great faith in the possibility of change, for the universe blinks into and out of existence in every instant, giving us the opportunity to recreate ourselves."
Namaste Brenda, thanks for finding me on here.
I read your profile and it sounds as if you have done quite extensive work through living with yoga. Thank you for helping pave the way to where it is today.
How have you found the response of people from remote communities in regards to the practice?
