I have read a lot about yoga and I am thinking of starting doing yoga soon. I am a workaholic person and barely have time to enjoy and relax. My busy lifestyle causes stress and frustrations at times. I think by doing yoga, I can release my stress and pent up frustrations.
I need suggestions as to what yoga discipline is best for me.
yoga will definitely help. i think what you need to do first is find out what styles of yoga is offered in your neighbourhood then do your research on those yoga disciplines. when you learn more about the yoga styles you'll notice that one will speak to you more than the other. most yoga studios will provide an introductory offer and beginner level.
I was one of those people who "thought" about starting yoga for a while but recently moved from thinking to "doing". I'm so glad I did!
I agree with Marina--the best way to research is through personal experience...to try different intro and beginner classes and feel what's right for you.
What helped get me into class was covenience. I think with your busy lifestyle, a studio that's close to home/work might help get you started. Actually walking through the door those first few times was a big step for me! I must admit that if the studio wasn't a 5 min. walk from my apartment, I may not have had the discipline to go. Now that I've gotten through those first steps, I'm excited to move forward and discover different styles and studios. My curiosity, excitement and commitment is now stronger than just the need for convenience!
Take care, and I wish you all the best in your wise decision to look after yourself and bring more balance into your life.
